Useful to have ready
- Photographs of the stain or the damage, if you can take them safely.
- Roughly how old the roof is, and what it is made of.
- Whether this followed a storm, and roughly when.
- Whether it has been repaired before, and by whom.
- Your address — the county decides the code that applies.
Do not climb on the roof to take pictures. Ground level and inside the attic are both fine and are where the useful evidence is anyway.
